RCP is a co-sponsor of the summertime Thursday evening family movies at the Highland Park Bowl, 1200 South Avenue.  The 2008 movie series begin on Thursday, July 10 and will run every Thursday night through August 14..  A special pre-July Fourth screening of 1776 will take place July 3.  Admission is free and start at dusk (around 8:45 to 9:00 PM.)  This program is presented by the Monroe County Department of Parks.

BASWA (Business Association of the South Wedge Area) and the George Eastman House and International Museum of Photography present Cinema at Sunset, a  five day classic film festival to be held at the Highland Park Bowl starting Tuesday August 26 and running through Saturday August 30th. Films will be projected using an actual 35mm reel-to-reel film projector onto a 45' x 18' theatre screen.

Gates open at 5:30 PM, and each night features warm-up music by local musicians such as the Hi Risers, Ancient Youth, Gordon Munding and Curtis Waterman, and others. Music runs from 6:00 to 7:15, followed by shorts and animations from the Eastman collection. Each feature film will be introduced by curators from the Eastman Film Department. Features will start at dusk or by 8:00 PM. Rain Location: The Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman House.

Tuesday: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Wednesday: Manhattan (1979)
Thursday: North by Northwest  (1959)(Music by Bobby Henrie & the Goners)
Friday: American Graffiti (1973) PLUS: bring your classic car to the bowl for our "Cruise-In" on Friday night! (Music by The Hi-Risers)
Saturday: Double Feature Scary Movie Night! The Black Cat  (1934) and The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) (Music by Ancient Youth Trio; and Gordon Munding & Curtis Waterman)

Concessions will feature food and beverages offered by local businesses. Bring a picnic or sample their concessions. (The event organizers request that no beverages brought in, food only). They encourage people to park at School 12 (999 South Avenue) or RCN (Rochester Childfirst Network, 941 South Avenue) for a small donation to these organizations, or utilize their shuttle from MCC for $1. Admission to the event is FREE!
