Rochester Community Players Proudly Announces Its 99th Consecutive Season in 2024

Rochester’s longest running theatre company—Rochester Community Players (RCP)—is proud to announce its 99th consecutive season featuring four productions at three different venues during 2024.

Winter brings William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale directed by David Kensek with performances February 2-10, 2024, at the Multi-Use Community Cultural Center (MuCCC). With many contrasting threads in its story, The Winter’s Tale has been called a tragedy, romance or comedy due to aspects of all three being found in its depiction of human frailty, betrayals, oracle prophecies, grief, and unexpected joy.

Spring features The Rivals, Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s comedy of manners. This well-known classic directed by Jean Gordon Ryon will be performed March 22-April 6, 2024, at MuCCC. Set in the British resort town of Bath, the unconventional wit, hilarious plot twists, romantic difficulties, and memorable characters, such as Mrs. Malaprop, have given The Rivals an enduring popularity with audiences.

RCP’s annual summer tradition continues with its 27th outdoor production of a play by William Shakespeare. Pericles, Prince of Tyre directed by Kathryn Rebholz will be performed July 11-27, 2024, at the Highland Park Bowl.

In autumn, RCP ends its 99th season with the musical Baby, book by Sybille Pearson, lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire. Directed by Michael C. Krickmire, performances will be November 8-10, 2024, at The Theater at Innovation Square. In Baby, three couples on the road to parenthood under very different circumstances find themselves facing a range of emotions that come with having a baby.
